Children are the real 'CHANGE MAKER' of the future & hence they must be Empowered, Enriched & adequately Encouraged whenever there is any initiative towards creating any kind of awareness on any issue. Realising the significance of this important social obligation, the school celebrated Swachhata Pakhwada.
It is needless to mention that during this COVID crisis it is essential to practice the concept of SWACHHATA in a wholesome way i.e. cleanliness of Body, Mind, Soul & above all our SWEET HOME (the safest place for all in present time). At the same time, observance of Swachhata Pakhwada acquires added meaning this year as proper sanitation and hygiene are considered among the best defences against COVID 19. Hence, the focus will be on awareness regarding COVID 19, the safety protocols and COVID appropriate behavior.
Recognising the vital role of the schools in spreading the Swachhata awareness and implementation across the country, CBSE directed all schools to observe the Swachhata Pakhwada from September 1 to 15, 2021.
The 'Swachhata Pakhwada' was observed with focused participation of students, teachers and SMC to promote COVID related preparedness among the school community in the immediate instance, as they gradually re-open, and to achieve cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in schools in the long term. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, Swachhata Pakhwada 2021 activities will be focused on three major precautionary practices, i.e. (i) Hand-washing with soap (ii) Use of Mask and (iii) Social Distancing; and on 3 Ts (Trace, Testing and Treat).
Under this directive, KAMAL MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, Mohan Garden enthusiastically organized various activities for the realisation of the programme.
On 1st September, A Swachhata Shapath ceremony was organized in accordance with the suggested action plan for Swachhata Pakhwada (1st – 15th September) wherein a pledge was taken by all the members incorporated in the Kamal Model Sr. Sec. School including the teachers and other staff under the norms of COVID – 19.
All the members took a “Shapath” for Swachhata (including COVID related preventive infection control measures related to mask, safe distancing, hand hygiene etc.) highlighting all the aspects of Swachhata. The oath was to commit time towards cleanliness and initiate the quest for cleanliness among the whole society. The whole message was in action for anticipating a clean and a healthy Bharat.

Health-awareness is the result of teamwork. Here at Kamal Model School, following initiatives were taken to make our surroundings clean:- 1) Threw trash into the waste baskets. 2) Arranged Eco friendly club meetings for students. 3) Banned the use of plastic water bottles in school premises. 4) Created fun posters and hung them around the school so as to remind others to stick to the sanitation rules. 5) Put recycle bins all around the school.
Dividing the different tasks related to cleanliness among students and teachers was a great success. Students presented their creativity and talent by taking initiative in the activity - Swap Shop. This activity was conducted to create awareness among students that we can stop the severe bad effects of changing climate. This activity was conducted to convert the non-usable things/ waste products into the useful ones to make them understand the value of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. With this activity they understood the various ways to use non-biodegradable products.
Our school conducted a brief seminar with parents, teachers and students to spread awareness and importance of cleanliness during the crucial period of coronavirus. We informed the participants about the community outreach programme and its benefits. We even offered viable solutions to the parents and teachers to stop the viral chain and keep themselves and their children safe and sound.
The conversations concluded with parents chiming in with their personal experiences and remedies.

Green School Drive Days (04 Sept.2021 and 05 Sept.2021)
All the students of Kamal Model Sr. Sec. School participated in it with zeal and vigor. The Green School Drive activities from 4-09-2021 to 05-09-2021. Students made posters, slogan, pamphlets and videos on fighting Corona with COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination.
They also prepared posters and slogans on Water Conservation. Students also explained about Solid Waste Management Treatment of Solid Waste. They educated other students about Conservation of Water and empower them to protect the Natural Resources of Water. They encouraged students virtually to save at least 1 litre of water per day. They also encouraged for minimum wastage of water at home and at school. Students also made posters, slogans and showed Nukkar Natak on eliminating single use of plastic. Students also explained virtually how plastic is injurious for drainage, for animals and for soil. We must avoid plastic.
The Swachhata Pakhwada launched by the Government of India includes mass participation of its citizens for clean surroundings. Keeping this thought, we organized inter- class competitions like painting, slogan writing, poem recitation and skit in our school. In the ongoing pandemic times, students observed the proper hygienic rules and prepared their presentations for the same. Swachhata awareness banners were also placed at different places in the school premises. Now, when everything is digitalized, we also put-up status regarding sanitizer usage on our online classes portal.

Hygiene starts with clean hands." Swachhata Pakhwada is being celebrated virtually with sheer enthusiasm and grandeur to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among the students of the school and to encourage and inspire them to continue with the good practices for hygiene and sanitation. The aim behind this celebration was to create awareness among all students about cleanliness. The first activity of Swachhata Pakhwada campaign was Hand wash day. It was especially designed for the youngest students of the school.
The teachers taught the students the importance of keeping their hands clean and keep washing them frequently. Students were demonstrated the steps to be followed for a good hand wash by their teachers. To emphasize on the importance of water conservation, various students shared their views on why and how to save water.
Personal Hygiene should be a part and parcel of life and to develop good habits one must be extremely disciplined and consistent in life. The students of Kamal Model Senior Secondary School learnt the concept of Personal Hygiene. Children were excited to see the video and props used by the teachers. Few kids also showed some measures of keeping themselves clean. The children showed their enthusiasm. It was an excellent learning experience for children which also enhanced their speaking skills.

All the activities performed during the Swachhata Drive were compiled altogether and a Virtual Exhibition was held in each class to showcase and share the work of all students with each other.
A quiz had been organized for students related to Swachhata Drive. The students participated enthusiastically in it.
Students acted as a role model and undertook the initiative to clean the school surroundings.
Through Slogan presentation, students were encouraged to make effort to clean their surroundings. Students shared their views about various activities which were organized in the school during Swachhata Pakhwada.
